Terms & Conditions for Participants Eligible for the $1,000 Education Benefit:
The SCO Group, Inc. ("SCO") is announcing a program whereby SCO is investing in SCO's new EdgeClick development platform. In an effort to properly train developers, SCO is offering $1,000 to qualified developers who register for and attend SCO Forum 2006 at the Mirage Hotel August 6 - 9th, 2006. Participants must meet the following criteria and abide by the program rules:
- This offer is only valid for SCO Forum 2006 attendees.
- This offer is valid for only one registrant per company (does not include educational institutions).
- You must be a qualified developer with the .Net and Java development platforms, having developed on those platforms. You must be able to demonstrate proficiency with these platform languages and may be asked to submit an example of Java application you or your company has developed.
- Registrants must secure Forum registration and Mirage Hotel reservation by July 15, 2006.
- All participants must stay at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas during the Forum event under the SCO Forum 2006 room block (a reduced rate has been negotiated). In the event that the Mirage Hotel sells out of available rooms, SCO, at its own discretion, may determine to offer additional discounted rooms at the Treasure Island resort.
- You must attend the EdgeClick breakout sessions and have your "passport" (provided at registration) properly stamped by an authorized SCO representative which provides proof of attendance.
- Participants must register for and attend the hands-on EdgeBuilder SDK training and provide their own laptop (or share that of a friend). The laptop must meet the following standards to run the EdgeBuilder SDK:
a. Memory 768MB, HIGHLY recommend 1GB plus
b. Windows XP Pro or Windows 2003 server (Windows XP Home will not work)
c. Processor speed - faster the better, at minimum should be Pentium (P4 class) 1.8 - 2.0GHz plus.
d. If firewall software is installed, it must be configurable.
e. Need to be able to disable anti virus software
- SCO will provide breakfast and lunch Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, August 7 - August 9th 2006. All other meals and expenses are the responsibility of the attendee.
- Student Developers are required to provide a letter of recommendation from their professor of an accredited college, university or approved educational program.
- Student Developers should note that hotel reservations at the Mirage require an individual 21 years of age or older to be the responsible party at check-in for financial payment. ID is required.
- All participants of this program will be required to show identification upon check-in at the SCO registration desk.
- Student Developers may be asked to submit additional proof of proficiency of development skills prior to acceptance into this program, including the possible requirement of a phone interview to determine proficiency.
- SCO reserves the right to limit this program to applicants it deems are qualified and may modify or terminate the promotion without any notification.
- If SCO determines that a participant has misrepresented themselves, or others, or has been fraudulent in any way, SCO reserves the right to deny entrance to that participant into SCO Forum either before the event or at the door.
- Payment of the $1,000 USD to participants in the "EdgeClick Developer Challenge" will be made within 6-8 weeks following the completion of SCO Forum 2006. All participants will be required to complete a certification of attendance and reimbursement to allow for payment. Any applicable taxes that may become due are the sole responsibility of the recipient.
